Arcane (also known as Arcane Brotherhood) is a guild founded by Agentred100 and BridgeDweller, and currently led by Nephalem (previously redkiller123). It was originally a PvP guild, but has broadened its interests to include building, mining, socializing, trading, and other activities as well[1]. It has consistently remained in the top six guilds; with 914 realms, it is currently ranked third, below VVolfpack and Aequitas and just above Vortex.

History

Arcane was first announced on April 11, 2012. Arcane began as a dedicated PvP faction, at a time when guilds frequently partook in ferocious nether battles. Its original members were Agentred100, BridgeDweller, MrSark980, Jugglingman456, and Nephalem[2]. On April 13th, 2012, the Arcane Grinder was announced and opened for pass-buying[3]. On April 23, 2012, Nephalem (then redkiller123) joined Arcane. On April 24, 2012, the Arcane Tournament was announced.[4]. It concluded in early June, with a final battle between Boomer2011 and AlM (new username unknown) in the newly-built Arcane Orb[5]. The battle was won by Boomer, who received the 50K first prize and was invited to join Arcane. He accepted. The second place 30K prize was won by AlM, and the 10K third and fourth place prizes were taken by CidKid and Meepers20 respectively[6]. On May 17, 2012, construction for the Arcane Orb began. The final battle of the Arcane Tournament took place beneath the orb. On July 11, 2012, Agentred100 made Nephalem the leader of Arcane before banning himself, his alt, and Intelli. As a result, Agent was permabanned, and the majority of Arcane was banned[7]. On December 8, 2012, Nephalem announced and began the construction of the Arcane Dragon, the biggest Arcane construction to date[8]. On January 5, 2013, The Arcane Underground Project began[9]. On February 8, 2013, The Arcane Industry began[9]. On March 3rd, 2013, Nephalem updated the Arcane application and published a short summary of Arcane's history[1].

Notable Properties

Like most major guilds, Arcane has a number of notable builds, cities, and plots that are particularly well-known, much-used, or representative of the guild.

The Arcane Orb

A 3D still of the Arcane Orb, produced by Nephalem.

The Arcane Orb is the largest megabuild of Arcane and the centerpiece to the Arcane base. It is located at [x,z]. Construction began on May 17, 2012, led by redkiller123.

Since its initial completion, features have been continuously added to keep it interesting and alive. It holds 17 floating glowstone and obsidian orbs (or spheres). Eight orbs are supported by by eight large stone cylinders starting from the foundation. Eight, slightly smaller orbs are held half-way up, accompanied by eight claws. What is often referred to as the orb is the largest orb supported at the top by an inverted cone spiral. The orb is surrounded by a planar glowstone and obsidian detail and eight smaller claws. Much of the megabuild consists of stone brick. There are portions of obsidian, glowstone, orange wool, glass, lava, and stone slab.

The Arcane Orb is featured in the "This is what Minecraft is about" video seen on the MineRealm homepage[10].

The Arcane Wall

The Arcane Wall is two massive walls surrounding the Arcane base. It is made primarily of stone, stone slab, and stone brick with other detailed elements. It is located at [x,z].

The first of the walls is square-shaped, covering a 250x250-block area, topped by rook-like structures, and decorated by hanging flags displaying Arcane's colors. It has four gates, one at each side. Each is decorated by the face of an early member of Arcane.

The second of the walls is circle-shaped with an approximate diameter of 650 blocks, centered on the Arcane Orb and surrounding the first wall and all of Arcane. It hosts 36 large, decorative towers, 36 medium-sized towers, and 72 small spires, all placed equidistant and symmetrically along the wall.

Arcane Industry

Arcane Industry is the guild's collection of massive farms, located at [x,z]. It produces excess sugarcane, pumpkins, and, previously, iron. Much of the sugarcane and pumpkin is put toward farming emeralds by the guild. The rest is sold.
