Biography:

Origin

Centuries ago, Prodigy was a citizen of a now-forgotten civilization. Following a catastrophic malfunction of ancient technology involving a Nether portal, a set of Ender pearls, and a stack of gravel, the civilization was obliterated by a massive explosion, along with most of its people. Prodigy, one of the greatest architects of his time, managed--barely--to survive the cataclysm by sealing himself inside a reinforced room of the circular tower he had built as his home. In spite of the relative security of this tower, the walls endured numerous cracks, and although they held fast against the initial explosion, Prodigy knew they could not last much longer. Donning the traditional uniform of the architect--a green shirt, red tie, grey pants, and black dress shoes--Prodigy left the safety of his tower to help his fellow citizens rebuild their society. Unfortunately, there was hardly anything left to rebuild--and nobody with whom to rebuild it. While searching for survivors, Prodigy made the mistake of looking at the center of the disaster area, where unnatural fires burned far more brightly than anything of this world; Prodigy had made it through the cataclysm with his life, but not his eyes. Prodigy returned to his tower, stricken with grief by the magnitude of the destruction. Using the power of his civilization's magical technology--similar, Prodigy realized, to the technology that had just destroyed his homeland--Prodigy tried to restore his vision. He succeeded, but only in part--through this magic, he regained the ability to perceive his surroundings, even though his eyes were beyond hope of recovery.

Exile

Unable to bear the grief of living among the ruins of his society, Prodigy abandoned his ancestral homeland and set out to find a new place to rebuild his life. But every settlement he visited seemed to either be in a state of utter anarchy, or under the control of petty but ruthless oligarchs. Eventually making his way to the place called MineRealm, Prodigy despaired that he had found yet another chaotic and inhospitable society--though the gathering hall he first visited was pleasant enough (a plain stone building with laws posted on the walls and a small marketplace in one room), the surrounding area was a mess of cobbles piled to the sky and bottomless pits dragging careless individuals to their deaths. Surely, this place could hardly support life, let alone civilization. But, wandering outwards from this terrible place, Prodigy beheld the finest buildings he had seen since before the great cataclysm. Outside the chaotic "no-man's land" in the middle of the territory that the nation's rulers had inexplicably seen fit to leave in a state of madness, the entire city was dedicated to some truly remarkable architecture. On the advice of one of the locals, Prodigy ventured to the outskirts of the city in order to claim his own land in what now seemed to be a civilization in its golden age. Prodigy had a plan, but he needed land and materials to make it happen.

Signal

Prodigy needed a place to put his architectural abilities to good use--a place high above the surrounding land, where people from miles around could see a building. He soon found such a place--a grassy hill in the middle of a vacant desert. Climbing to the top, he lost no time before striking the earth and beginning to gather the materials he needed to build. Within a week, he had amassed a supply of stone and built himself a small house on half of the hilltop. After gathering the necessary materials, Prodigy built two large circular towers next to his home, in the style of those that were common in the old country. Venturing into the Nether--through a portal he made deep underground, still wary from the damage such things had done to his homeland--he gathered some of the unique stone found in that Hellish landscape, the final component needed to complete his plan. Piling these stones on the top of the tallest tower, Prodigy set them aflame--a signal to attract attention from any other survivors of the cataclysm, who would surely recognize the structure of the towers if the fires could catch their eyes. Content with finishing this work, Prodigy waited for such survivors to find him; in the meantime, he found a nearby plain where a new settlement could be built, once a small band of his countrymen arrived.

Stronghold

The central city of the nation rapidly expanded as new settlers arrived; roads were built between major cities, and smaller settlements and cabins sprung up in the surrounding countryside... but nobody from Prodigy's homeland ever arrived. Finally realizing that he was likely the last of his people, Prodigy disassembled his signal towers, moving the materials to the plains he had found earlier. He was determined to rebuild his civilization, even if that meant rebuilding it alone. Though built by only one man, this city was dynamic; at first, it was a single massive structure of wood and stone, with corridors connecting many rooms, then the halls were disassembled, leaving each room as a free-standing building, and eventually the entire city was consolidated into one tower. One massive tower, built in the style of Prodigy's original home. Moving all his worldly possessions into this tower, Prodigy now lives as something of a recluse, venturing out only to seek new valuables to incorporate into his building's design. He has no eyes, no compatriots, and no homeland--but now, Prodigy has his Stronghold.
